How many letters of recommendation to get?
I am applying to school internships and the schools require 2-3 letters of recommendation. I already have 2 supervisors that know me well and will write strong letters. Should I have a third letter if it is only going to be mediocre from a professor that doesn't know me as well? Or just skip the third letter since I feel the other 2 will be strong.

- a mediocre letter won't be lethal. i suggest having at least 5 qualified individuals able (and willing) to write you a letter. I have about 10 or 11 on my list that I can call on for various kinds of letters.
- Yes, I would recommend getting that third letter. Possibly, it mmay be better to get that recommendation from someone who knows you well and can attest to you abilies and accomplishments. Maybe try making that third reference more of a personal one than a professional reference. That way, you are sure to get a stron 3rd reference from someone who knows you well on a different level.
